Politics - not only men's "club"!

From the moment when the world's first female minister stepped into the political arena, the phrases like "woman - the leader of the party" or "woman president" do not longer surprise anyone. Although ...
Learning about the life and work of some representatives of the female half of a political movement, we feel a sense of pleasant surprise and sometimes admiration.

Irina Pruidze is born and raised in Tbilisi. After high school, she entered the Tbilisi State Medical University, but by mastering the profession of doctor, she suddenly realized that it is not for her and that she is more interested in psychology. Therefore, she also finished the Institute of Political Science and Anthropology. Eventually, she chose a completely different sphere of activity - politics and social work; though she believes that someday everything would come back to psychology - a profession that you are allowed to practice at any age.

While studying, she has actively been engaged in the work of the civil sector, and until today she continues to get involved with this, as the Secretary General "of the Georgian Organization of the Scout Movement. The last three years Irina is working with an interesting project, which includes the development of the youth movement of the Scouts in the regions of Georgia, the creation of eco-clubs and the formation of civic consciousness of the youth of the country.

While being a student there was another hobby that began to take place in Irina Pruidze’s life - the game "What? Where? When?”.  Today, as a team captain of the "Experts", she participates in the games on the Rustavi-2 ", twice became the champion of the country, and won the title of champion of the South Caucasus.

In her television team there are gathered five smartest and strongest players - men, and as she expresses herself, to govern them is not a simple matter.

After the birth of the daughter - Salome, who recently turned one and a half years - she has less time for her hobbies: reading, drawing, photography and travel. Despite this, the game "What? Where? When? “remains the biggest passion in her life.

The main thing for Irina Pruidze today is her intervention in the political party New Right, in which she serves as one of the founders of the youth wing and deputy international secretary of the party.
She believes that the greatest achievement in her political career until now is the election for the post of Vice-President of the Youth Organization of the People's Party of Europe in 2007.

Last year was quite successful for the young politician. Each year, the American magazine «Politics» selects the top 30 young people who have contributed to political life, both in the United States and abroad. In 2009, in the category "Rising Star of politics," the prize was awarded to a representative of Georgia, Irina Pruidze.

Her professional qualities are appreciated by members of the party, and today along with the other leaders of the movement Irina Pruidze is actively engaged in promoting ideas and programs of the "New Right", sincerely believing in their implementation and the fact that they are designed for the benefit of society as a whole.

The current situation with regard to extra-low rate of participation of women in political life and decision-making processes, Irina connects with remnants of the Soviet past and the problem of education and awareness by women. She believes that to change the situation there is needed a great job to be done. Although she disagrees with the fact that in order to force the situation in Georgia the quota system should be introduced. Quotas, in her opinion are initially of a discriminatory nature, and do not contribute to the natural but to the artificial promotion of women, who themselves must prove that they are no worse than men. According to Irina, no one in a society should have doubts about the competence and professionalism of women.
"As the time goes by, the processes related to the establishment of gender equality in Georgia are gaining momentum. There is a need of breaking stereotypes in the minds of men and in the minds of women. To this contributes the emancipation of women, which is especially noticeable in Tbilisi, and as you know, after the emancipation occurs equality "- says Irina Pruidze.

For Irina Pruidze there is no perfect plan which could be followed by a female politician, everything is very individual and depends on the circumstances, though she firmly believes that in any situation, women are less aggressive, have deep comprehension of the problems and solutions and have large organizational skills.
She desires to succeed in her political career, to become one of the leaders of the party, which is so dear to her.  She wants the party when it gains power to become the conductor of center-right liberal values as well as in politics as in economy. She hopes to be a direct participant in the processes involving a building of a truly democratic state, as she believes that without this there is no future for Georgia.

Such is the portrait of a modern, intelligent and beautiful Georgian woman, full of optimism and faith in a better future. How can one fail to admire?
