Everything began in Baku, during her official trip. The senator of Belgium, Dominique Tilmans has discovered that there are many conflicts for several years in the region of South Caucasus. Then, she decided to fight against this unfairness towards people. Because of this, she is doing her best for peace in the region. She created the association “Women are united for Peace” with the support of UN Women.

“Space for Peace”- this is the new project of Mrs. Dominique. The project supports scientist women from Armenia and Azerbaijan, who are affected of the conflict in Karabakhi, to participate in the research of space with the astronauts from Belgium.

Dominique is vigorous, full of joy. Despite the fact, that politics take long time, she manages to have time for her family and live healthy life.
There are more women needed to change violent policy- thinks Mrs. Dominique. She calls young intelligent women to be engaged in the processes to reach welfare and prosperity of the country.

In 2011, Dominique Tilmans has been given an award “Woman of Peace”, which is created by Women’s Council of Belgium, with the partnership of the committee of equality between women and men and the platform UN SCR 1325.

Peace building in Caucasus and whole the world, increasing women’s participation in the processes of negotiations, their engagement in peace building and conflict solving processes- these are the fields, in which Mrs. Dominique works hard. She has joint the petition of Women’s Information Center “Women are united with the demand of Peace”, which concerns the events of Syria and apply to the representatives of governmental and non-governmental sector, international organizations, media and the whole society.
