Sub-Regional Consultations to Combat the COVID-19 Outbreak in EaP countries

On 3rd of April, 2020 an online Sub-Regional Consultations to Combat the COVID-19 Outbreak in EaP countries brought together up to 80 participants representing non-governmental organizations, women’s organizations, youth and civic activists.The aim of the consultations was to to discuss challenges and priorities for COVID-19 response from the gender perspective and needs of left-behind groups. Country-specific update on the situation and challenges in COVID-19 response were discussed, such as:

  • Incidence of GBV and a possible increase
  • The potential loss of income for women in the informal sector, women entrepreneurs, labour migrants, domestic workers, etc.
  • The additional burden of unpaid care and domestic work
  • Impact on female health and social workers, etc.
  • Do the Governments developed national response plans for the created situation and did they involved in the process CSOs.
